Brazil’s imports of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap increased in November by 44.7pc and 15.7pc to 2,518mt and 15,640mt, respectively, on an annual basis.
According to the latest trade data from the Brazilian Ministry of economy, The prices for ferrous scrap increased by 108pc to $346.6/mt last month from $166.1/mt in November 2019, while non-ferrous scrap import prices increased by 59.9pc to $2,637/mt from $1,649/mt during the same period under comparison.
The South American country’s non-ferrous scrap exports, however, more than halved in November, dropping 59.1pc to 1,508mt from 3,689 during the prior-year period. Ferrous scrap exports, on the other hand, rose more than four times, increasing 454pc to 225.7mt from 40.7mt during the same period under review.
Copper trade increases
Brazil’s import of copper ore and concentrate rose by 26.2pc in November to 50,030mt from 39,642.80mt in the same prior-year period. The country exported 109,229mt of the red metal last month, up 55.8pc from 70,073mt in November 2019.
Iron ore imports fell by 99.68pc in November to 270mt from 84,233mt in the same prior-year period, while the material’s exports trended flat to 29.15mn mt last month from 29.27mn mt in November 2019.
Shipments of aluminum ores and concentrate into Brazil rose exponentially to 55,297.30mt last month from 337.3mt in November 2019, while exports of the same fell by 10.85pc to 334,335mt from 375,041mt during the same timeframe under review.
