Brazil’s crude steel output rose to 3.1mn mt in April, up by 59.3pc from a year ago, according to Aço Brasil data. Domestic sales increased to 1.9mn mt, up by 96.1pc from April 2020 supported by economic recovery this year against low sales levels in 2020 due to COVID-19 lockdown.
Long steel production grew by 107pc to 923,000mt in April 2021 from 445,0000mt in the same month in 2020.
Brazil’s crude steel production fell by 4.5pc to 31.1mn mt in 2020 against 32.6mn mt in 2019. At the present production rate, the country’s crude steel is anticipated to surpass 2019 production levels in 2021.
