Brazilian crude steel production in July 2021 was up 22pc since Jan and 14.5pc against the same month last year, according to the Brazil Steel Institute (Aço Brasil).


The country’s crude steel production volume reached 21mn mt, from January to July 2021, and 3mn mt, during this July. 


Domestic sales in the first seven months of this year climbed 38.4pc to 14.1mn mt, compared to 2020, and rose to 2mn mt in July, signifying an 11.2pc increase as against the same year-ago month. Apparent steel consumption from January to July was 16.4mn mt, up 44.9pc against the same period last year, and was 2.4mn mt in July, a 23.9pc growth compared to the same month in 2020.


Marco Polo de Mello Lopes, Executive President of the Brazil Steel Institute, said they had revised forecasts for apparent consumption growth in 2021 from 15pc to 24pc, expecting levels to be about 26.6mn mt.
