Brazilian aluminium scrap imports surged by 9pc to 93,457mt in the first seven months (Jan-July) from 84,590mt in the same period last year.
Aluminium scrap imports increased by 72pc and 45pc to 12,769mt and 13,343mt in May and June this year, respectively, from the prior-year periods.
In July, however, aluminium scrap imports dropped by 19pc to 9,330mt from 11,082mt in July 2020. Imports from Mexico dropped by 29pc to 1,931mt in July from 2,721mt in June. While aluminium scrap imports in July dropped by 54pc from 4,162mt in the prior-year period.
Aluminium imports from Guatemala fell by 35pc in July to 1,705mt from 2,605mt in June but increased by 245pc from 494mt in July 2020.
Imports from Paraguay increased by 2pc to 1,180mt from 1,160mt in the prior month and increased by 18pc from 1,000mt in the prior-year period.
