Brazilian aluminium imports rose by 14.85pc from 71,489mt to 82,106mt in the first six months of 2021 from the prior-year period. 

 

Earlier this year, Brazil’s GDP was estimated at 3.5pc which dropped to 3.17pc, two months later in April. Since then, expectations have gradually improved with a growth forecast of 4.36pc announced in the first week of June. 

 

In June, aluminium imports increased by 81.85pc to 13,343mt from June 2020. In April and May, imports increased by 68.28pc and 72.39pc to 12,769mt and 16,309mt, respectively, from prior-year periods.

 

In Jan, Feb and March, however, aluminium imports decreased by 20.65pc, 23,52pc and 1.07pc to 13,549mt, 11,987mt and 14,148mt respectively, from the prior-year periods.
