German automaker, BMW intends to increase the percentage of recycled and reusable material in its manufacturing process to at least 50pc.
This initiative is a part of the carmaker’s efforts to cut carbon emissions by at least 40pc across its value chain by 2030. BMW uses around 30pc of recycled and reusable material in its manufacturing process at present.
According to media reports, the shortage of charging infrastructure within the EU and other countries has also made BMW hesitant to set a definite timeline for the full conversion to all-electric vehicles. This may impact its sustainability goals which include gaining 50pc of revenue from EVs by 2030 and reducing carbon emissions for each vehicle per km driven by at least 50pc within the same period.
