Aircraft lessor BBAM has ordered 12 additional Boeing 737-800 Converted Freighters (BCF) to expand its cargo and e-commerce fleet.
BBAM’s conversions will take place at Boeing’s upcoming Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (COOPESA) facility in Costa Rica, which is expected to be commissioned next year by the company. This takes BBAM’s total orders for the 737-800 BCF to 31 units. The company has ordered a separate six units with the option to purchase six more. As it stands, Boeing has received more than 200 orders for the 737-800 BCF from 16 customers.
The increasing demand from air transport in the cargo and e-commerce industry continues to spur demand for freighters. United Airlines has also cemented a 200 unit 737 Max commercial jetliner in a fleet deal with Boeing
