North American aluminum packaging manufacturer Ball Corp plans to join Austria’s Rauch and Red Bull at their beverage manufacturing hub in North Carolina, USA
Ball Corp will invest about $383.8mn and create nearly 220 new jobs to manufacture aluminum cans at the 800,000sq ft facility in Concord city, noted the North Carolina Department of Commerce (NCDC) on Jul 27. A 12-year job development grant by the NCDC will facilitate Ball’s expansion that is forecasted to boost the local economy with a capital infusion of $1bn. However, actual volumes remain unknown. Estimating from a similar projects around the US by the company, it should increase production by around 1bn cans per year.
The aluminum cans producer and its subsidiaries’ 2020 net sales stood at $11.8bn with a global workforce of 21,500. It aims to reach a total of 8bn cans produced annually by the end of this year.
