India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto is strengthening EV cooperation with Europe-based PIERER Mobility. Bajaj Auto is keen on developing electric two-wheelers to cater to the growing demand for e-mobility, according to a company release.
Bajaj Auto and PIERER Mobility have a partnership of more than 15 years. The renewed cooperation focuses on developing an electric platform for the two partners to attain benefits of scale in terms of critical components and support them to adapt to the evolving customer preferences, globally. They have agreed to collaborate on zero tailpipe emissions, low maintenance vehicle with a focus on light EVs for the urban market.
The two companies are also keen on developing various battery opportunities including fixed and swappable products. The initial production from this shared electric vehicles platform is expected from the beginning of 2022.
PIERER Mobility group’s brands include KTM, GASGAS and HUSQVARNA.
