Brazilian nickel miner Atlantic Nickel focuses on sustainably recycling 83.27pc of its waste generated during nickel production at its Itagiba mine.
The balance 16.73pc of non-recyclable waste is disposed off responsibly keeping in mind environmental protection and may even be transformed into energy.
Atlantic Nickel has a space built inside the company which is called the Waste Screening Centre (CTR) that receives all materials to be recycled.
Most of the nickel produced at the company’s mines is used in manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles, the company said in a statement. Atlantic Nickel mined 5mn mt of raw material in Q1 2021.
