Canada-based Atico Mining produced 4,926,000lbs (2,234mt) of copper in the march ending quarter (Q1), up by 108pc from the prior-year quarter.
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the company has implemented preventive measures at the El Roble mine site in Columbia ad La Plata project in Ecuador. The El Roble mine is operating with minimum work force and strict health and safety measures. Around 42pc of the workforce in engaged at the mining operations.
The El Roble mine is an underground copper and gold mine with a daily processing capacity of 1,000mt. The company started a feasibility study in the first quarter of 2020 for considering expansion of operations and to drill test till a minimum of 7,100 meters at the La Plata project.
Atico Mining recently released its 2019 production figures and declared its copper guidance for 2020 between 20 –21mn lbs. In 2019, the company produced a total of 16.85mn lbs of copper.
