Davis Index – Daily metal prices, scrap prices & global metal market

In Asia, aluminium import prices for old cast, Taint/ Tabor, Zorba 95/2, 6063 extrusions, A356 wheels rose in sync with the recent spike in the three-month aluminium contract on LME. 

 

The official three-month aluminium contract settled at $1,994.5/mt on Nov 19, up by $72/mt from $1,922.5/mt the prior week. Participants reported few trades as scrap prices escalated. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for Taint/Tabor settled at $1,338/mt cfr India port, up by $20/mt. The index for Tense settled at $1,350/mt cfr India port, up by $25/mt from Nov 11.  

 

The weekly Davis Indexes for Zorba 95/2 settled at $1,388/mt cfr India port, up by $38/mt, and for Zorba 99/3 settled at $1,425/mt cfr China port, up by $15/mt. Market participants shared that scrap yards and shipping companies are still reluctant to sell aluminium scrap to Chinese shores as confusion prevails regarding the scrap standards allowed inside China. 

 

The weekly Davis Indexes for 6063 extrusion settled at $1,530/mt cfr India port, up by $50/mt, and for A356 wheels rose to $1,683/mt cfr India port, up by $68/mt.

 

ADC 12 manufacturers reported new enquiries from China and Japan. The weekly Davis Index for ADC 12 was flat at $1,800/mt cfr China port, up by $25/mt.

 

The weekly Davis Index for ADC 12 cfr Japan reached $1,850/mt, up by $45/mt. Indians heard ADC 12 offers at $1,800/mt. Chinese manufacturers exported ADC 12 at $1,900/mt cfr Japan port.
