European steelmaker Aperam’s total steel shipment in Q1 2021 rose to 493,000mt from 438,000mt in Q1 2020 and was up from 431,000mt in Q4 2020.
The company’s stainless steel and electrical steel shipments in Q1 2021 increased to 483,000mt from 426,000mt in the same quarter last year and from 432,000mt in Q4 2020. Its alloy and specialty steel shipment dropped to 7,000mt in Q1 2021 against 9,000mt in Q1 2020 and was at par with Q4 2020 at 7,000mt.
Aperam’s steel shipments in the services and solution sector grew to 208,000mt in the first quarter from 186,000mt in Q1 2020 and rose from 163,000mt in Q4 2020.
The steel manufacturer’s total sales in Q1 rose to €1.1bn ($1.3bn) from €1bn in Q1 2020 and were up from €916mn in Q4 2020. During the same period, its sales in the stainless steel and electrical steel division rose to €977mn from €827mn. Sales at its alloys and specialty steel division dropped to €125mn from €155mn during the same annual timeframe under review.
Sales at its services and solution division increased to €531mn in Q1 2021 from €450mn in the same period in 2020 and rose from €381mn in Q4 2020.
Aperam’s total operating income rose to €140mn in Q1 2021 from €34mn in Q1 2020 and from €118mn in Q4 2020 while its adjusted EBITDA grew to €175mn from €70mn and from €109mn in the same time frame.
