Angouran Lead and Zinc Complex raised its annual production capacity by 120,000mt with the commencement of operations at a new underground mine in Zanjan Province, Iran as reported by Financial Tribune.
An investment of 1.25trillion rials ($30mn) was put into the new mine in addition to €1.2bn ($1.41bn). The mine produces sulfur, lead and zinc ore. The total annual production can increase by 50pc to 180,000mt with the commencement of the new mine.
Iran is a major zinc exporting country. India imports zinc primary ingots and alloys from Iran at competitive prices. Demand for zinc ingots has recently decreased amid weak demand in India but is expected to rise in the coming weeks.
