Alfa Acciai completed the modernization of its spooler line for bar mill No.2 in Brescia, Italy within two months of initiating the project in August 2020.
The modernization allows for the single strand billet processing system to now feed two coilers via the two strands. The upgrade gives the steelmaker flexibility to increase the production of coiled rods and improve its finished steel quality. The plant’s spooled bar output will increase the line’s efficiency by 60pc as hourly production output increased from 50pc to 80pc.
Alfa Acciai first announced the signed contract with Danieli in mid-August with the expectation to recommission the upgraded plant in Q4 2020.
