Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

French aircraft manufacturer Airbus has decided to go ahead with the plan to repurpose its plant in Toulouse, France to build single-aisle A321 Neos.

Media reports indicated that the plant, which used to manufacture larger A380s has been idle since March 2019. However, the company recently told the media that it plans to construct new production lines for the A321 in place of the older A320 line. Demand for the smaller aircraft has been strong, with a major market share against Boeing 737 Max

The plant will be capable of producing the A320 Neo as well as the A321XLR variant. Airbus will employ around 500 workers at the new plant. Analysts expect an additional A321 output of 57 jets per year by 2024. Apart from this location, Airbus makes the same model in Hamburg, Germany, and Mobile, Alabama.
