Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

French aerospace manufacturer Airbus has decided to cut its production outlook for this year as the industry continues to suffer the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to media reports, Airbus had initially planned to make 47 units of the A320 single-aisle aircraft, beginning in July. However, the company decided to increase production from the current 40 units to 43 planes in Q3 and 45 units in Q4 2020. It noted that the move to scale back output was in line with current market conditions as air travel remains subdued.

The manufacturer also postponed an increase in production of its widebody models A350 and A330 due to a cautious outlook. It will keep output for the two models unchanged at five and two units per month, respectively.
